the singers programme

We are excited to announce that the programme this year will be led by the internationally acclaimed Moira Smiley, plus an outstanding local guest teacher.
An eclectic mix of world music, (body) percussion and dance.

A little about Moira: California-based composer / vocalist, Moira Smiley has been inspiring singers around the world for two decades with her unique performing, ensemble leading and teaching.  She began leading camps, tours and singing experiences at the age of 13, and has made a life of learning and creating  folksongs filled with harmony, body percussion and a wide palette of vocal color.  She is a life-long student - and now teacher - of Eastern European and Anglo-Celtic folk song, including early American "shape-notes", Bulgarian wedding songs and Irish Sean-Nós.  Her songs have won her prestigious awards, commissions and fellowships, and she most enjoys bringing arrangement, improvisation and physical theater into her teaching and ensemble leading.

World-renowned composer / performer Meredith Monk calls Moira's music "luminous, delicious, exhilarating, moving - a wonder!"

For people who love to move and groove, there will be some sessions where you can completely let yourself groove to an eclectric mix of world music!

not a singer?

If you have a partner or friend who would love to come and join you in Italy but says‚ 'I really don't want to sing', suggest they take part in our cooking course running at the same time in the same venue.

the cooks programme

Join the Montestigliano (Italian) cook to plan menus using local produce and cook typical regional recipes for the evening meal for the entire group, then you can wind down to the delightful sound of our very own choir, or not, you choose! Learn a little italian in the process too.

don't like cooking or singing?

We are sorry to hear that!
If your friend or partner doesn't like cooking  or singing then there is still plenty to do on this wonderfully large property in a picture perfect environment just 12 kms from the centre of Siena. With gorgeous forest walks, two beautiful swimming pools and famous cypress avenues, Montestigliano caters to all.

After lunch: How will you choose between taking a siesta, exploring the olive groves and seeing the eco farm in action or just relaxing by the pool?

During the week we will take an excursion further afield into Tuscany, exploring the wonders of this medieval region, including some of the churches, abbeys and villages the area is famous for.
